I was just pondering what to write in this, my first ever blog post, and musing on how the idea for Trip Stylist came about. And I realised it’s the result of many years of a type of geekery that for lack of a better word I will call Listingsmania

Definition: a fanatical interest in travel and entertainment listings; gathering and hoarding of travel/leisure related materials such as maps, flyers, travel articles; avid reading of restaurant reviews, travel magazines and blogs; aimless wandering and purposeful exploring around towns and cities

Hmm, yes, guilty to all of the above. You know those flyers you see left in cafes, it’s me that picks them all up, for some reason causing much amusement and eye-rolling from friends and family. I’ve accumulated a list longer than an orangutan’s arm of great places to eat and drink, hidden gems, latest gourmet coffee shops, exhibitions to check out, new bars, travel destinations, you name it.

But when I found myself researching and planning other people’s holidays (for fun) I decided it was time do something about it…..

So all those lists, all those days spent exploring, all that time spent reading Time Out, all those leaflets (see, I knew they’d come in handy one day!) – well I’m putting it all to good use by designing walks and day out guides to help people have fantastic, hassle-free days out and hopefully discover somewhere new at the same time.
