London’s Secret City Gardens

London’s Secret City Gardens

in London walks

Earlier this week I turned off my laptop and spent an afternoon with pens and paper drawing a map for Londonist’s hand-drawn maps series.  Below is the result….

London Secret Gardens map

Clearly I won’t be winning any art prizes but the map is at least useful! It’s pretty self-explanatory, the map shows where to find some of central London’s hidden gardens, parks and green spaces. I’ve highlighted the more weird and wonderful features to be found in some of them. These are just some of my favourites, some places to escape to on your lunch break or a day out exploring in the city.  Just in time for picnics in this late summer heatwave we’re having!

Know any better ones? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. Hi, I love your map of the secret gardens. I run 2 weekly tours of the secret gardens in the city of London every Wednesday (Green City Walks, for charity), and you include quite a few of the best ones on your map. There are one or two more in the city that are much more secret however, so if anyone comes along on my walks, they will be able to fill in the others on your map. It’s a really good and clear map! from steve@greencitywalks
